The rarity adds a multiplier to an items value at identifocation. Blue/white is factor 1, purple blue, gold 4. Hence you can easily compare: a 100g blue is as rare as a 400g gold. So not too rare
recently got a 256g purp - that compares to a 512g gold - closer but still not insane 
From what I know a blue can roll up to 120g ident without improved sale value on it - that is if you know where to look for it and then spend ages there
Edit: there of course is a difference - most "insanely high valued golds" come from nf treasures - like my 256g purp - and those treasures do not drop blues. So you have to compare it to "regular" golds

Edit: the run is xuangh sky way. U can also farm the vermines and NM for q7 weapons (best on favor) or you can just simply NM chest run it. The big advantage to other q8 runs is that here drops no armors. Other then in bukdek, waijun, pongemeis. And armors really pollute ur drop pool. Every gold armor drop is a potential q8 gold missed

U hever had a Hex on your PC ?
try some RAM with 256g(igabyte) of extra effecitve 15% vs Hexed foes . Works everytime in 1 out of 4 cases so basicly 100%
