2025 New Items Drop Locations

    I think at this point the glacial blade is likely dropped by a specific foe in a specific dungeon. Prob a dungeon that nobody farms or certain mobs are skipped due to SC.

    looking at the first page you will notice that arced blade were only reported in shards of orr. So similarly glacial blade may only drop in a specific dungeon. People found arced blade because SoO is an overfarmed dungeon.

    Also the mob that dropped the arced blade is a curses brigand, which can only be found in SoO.

    A dungeon in norn territory that has unique mobs. I am thinking wurms in frostmaw!

    Did someone try to farm artic wolves in Jaga Moraine for the glacial blade? They’re warriors with sword skills and kinda icy related.

    I've done full VQ HM for few times here and like 20+ VQ Ice cliffs and not single Glacial Blade or Blades so far, dungeon theory might be true and I'll check it in next few days too.

    That means all items drop from random mobs except of TWO?

    only arced blade and glacial blade drop from special mobs and the rest is random. Or did a forgot something?

    Why did Anet choose such a path. I really hoped for new live for all the dungeons. I am a little bit disapointant that not all dungeons got specific exclusive new weapons.

    Did someone of you write with the Anet Guild Wars 1 guys on LinkedIn?
    Maybe they can say a few words about that?

    granite edge, stone blade as well (all 3 of them each), or mostly said almost all eotn skins are mucch restricted. also the others do not just drop everywhere... it will just be a selective group of mobs or mob, that isn't popularly farmed - like SoO, CoF, ice cliff chestrun near worms etc.

    I WTB all kinds of Tower Shields and Defenders. I do drop research - if you find anything remarkable or want to see the results - check the thread or send a pm!

    Here is another thought.

    Right now most of the the dagger version of the Glacial Blade seems to be from the 1st chest outside Boreal, which is a snow wurm chest.

    Maybe the frost wurm in Frostmaw is the one that drop the sword version.

    It has been a long time since I have done Frostmaw, but in SCs do they usually kill the wurms on each level?

    im not super familiar with it, but i think multiple wurms have to get killed to do the dungeon.

    in dragrimmar however, you don't need to kill anything except the endboss (which isn't an actual boss) his 2 small elemental allies. there are lots of actual ele bosses on lvl 1 that you can (and usually do) just ignore

    Quite a few wurms are killed, especially in the last level.

    On an unrelated note, I've killed well over 1000 undead in gates of Kryta HM during favor and none of the new skins dropped. Doing minotaurs in crystal dessert now. Super slow, but I'll report my findings when I'm done.

    i've had the same thought, just with ice elemental bosses in dragrimmar dungeon

    I've done 7 full runs of Sepulchre over the past few days.

    TongTong's screen included a "notorious foe" sign in the background, so I figured I'd try killing the Fragment of Antiquities, another notorious foe & one that is out of the way in the NW corner of the first floor & is almost always skipped unless you're doing the sidequest.

    I also cleared out every single foe in each of these runs with the hope that maybe only foes in the dungeon can drop it.

    No luck yet. Might try solo farming the Fragment later in the week.

    Killed thousands of HM minotaur in Elona reach during favor and dozens of Hydra and Desert griffons, nothing. I did get the new items from chests, some of them linked to minotaurs. I don't think I'm gonna bother with Cantha and Elona since based on our data the drops work the same way there.

    It seems likely at this point that in proph/fac/nf the new items function much like the Fellblade in proph, in NM only high level foes and chests can drop them, while in low-level areas in HM only locked chests can drop them. Unfortunately this would exclude the possibility of q8 or lower in proph/fac/nf. For whatever reason eotn doesn't follow this rule since we've seen low q golds from raptor nestlings.

    The HM Istan chest should (I think?) also be level 22, which matches the NM berserking eotn creature drop a few days ago.

    I'd point out that the low req items from raptor nestlings are the Tolkano type swords which behave differently to all the promo-type items (some drop at non-gold rarity, can be salvaged for mats, are much more common). So far I don't think anyone's shown a promotional item drop from a nestling, only from the raptor boss. If nothing else, the ratio of general gold weapons to promotionals from here seems really really bad compared to other things (like chance encounter).

    I'm wanting to figure out why some creatures drop promotionals/preorders and others don't, though. Level might be important, but if it was the whole story it doesn't explain why some places apparently refuse to produce drops even in HM, or why 26 chilling wisps do drop but spectral vaettir don't. The idea of heavily farmed stuff being specifiically excluded seems pretty out the window with more of these observations of things that seemingly don't drop promo items. I'm not sure what to do at this point except throw ideas out and see if anyone has thoughts/ideas on it...

    Questionable theory #1: natural weapons?

    One idea I've since had is that creatures with might be called "natural" weapons can't drop the new stuff - but that still has issues. Raptor boss? Beserking animals? That screenshot of a simian dervish dropping one? Could be that most EotN "animals" are somehow different internally and technically wield weapons - spectral vaettir however always have their earth damage nibble, and maybe nestlings could be forced to do wet noodle damage, or some reason that excludes the boss. I should probably try those wisps - the wiki implies they all wield the same scythe skin which is a little weird. I haven't paid any attention to what Ministry members are holding, either.

    If anyone knows more things about enemy weapons/damage, it might be interesting to put that pretty tenuous idea to bed. If nothing else it'd maybe be useful to pay more attention to how much damage things crit for when farming them and whether there's any variance or other evidence of randomised equipment at play.     Questionable theory #2: something to do with loot pools?

    I know basically nothing about this, or about the topic in general.

    If you go to raptors, why is it that virtually every single gold item you get is one of a pretty limited number of skins? Stuff like Great Conches, Sage Blades, Jagged Reavers, Piranha Hammers, Glyphic Mauls, Turtle Shell Bows, the very occasional Elemental Sword, and now the two Tolkano sword families as well. What's also curious is that the nearby chests give items that killing the foes seemingly can't, or if they can they're much much much more easily obtained from the chests (eg Starfish Focus, Saurian Scythe). For some reason, in other places there's what feels like a heavy bias for gold items to be "for" the profession of the foe that drops them, but the raptors don't seem to care so much. Also, the new promotional items seem to ignore that more or less completely.

    That said, Vaettir feel like they can drop a much wider variety of stuff, and yet they're apparently still off the menu for promotionals.

    I have recently deep dived into this topic of the hunt for the Glacial Blade. That being said and after reading the forum chats here for nearly an hour it is funny no one has mentioned Lord Glacius, granted I have farmed this guy recently. About 50 kills, 5 green staves but not a single "new skin". Sorry it's not super exciting news, but I think any and all data in regards to this sword is good.

    I am also not restricting my self to the idea of it only being in Norn Areas. I've ironically thought of the Armored Saurus in Dalada Uplands and other various bosses. I even did a little Destroyer Core farming in Glint's Challenge for the hell of it.

    I reflected the moonlight off my waxed butt to ensure all the luck would be concentrated in one moment. Jokes aside, it dropped from a beetle in NF.

    If it was a rain beetle in Garden of seborhin it might have been level 24, since both 20 and 24 spawn there apparently.

    It was not in the Garden of Seborhin;) It dropped from a Rock Beetle which only spawns lvl20 in the map I got it in
