It's a redesign in the sense that it adapts to 4K screens and PCs that are more recent than when GW was released, including the interface (UI), in terms of resolution (pixels). That's it, there's no need for an option to go back, it's useless.

They are fixing bug with steam deck compatilibity and new monitor/pc features, hope they fix the bug wich prevent me from switching audio output without restarting client -_-

I hear you but I think improved resolution (both on UI, skill icons and the game) and the new texture redo + bloom + ambient occlusion update will make a dent in how we experience the game day to day - on top of the post processing effects implemented a while back.

There's a GW Reforged stream happening on Laranity's twitch channel tomorrow. I can't find the link atm (on my mobile again) but I'll post it if and when I do. Hopefully we'll know exactly how different the game will look then.

More than that though, I'm interested in the steady stream of updates we'll be getting from now on. QoL also rox hard!

I'm most excited for the HD skill icons to be used in-game (which are available on the GW Wiki). I was always surprised that they never updated the game to use them, even after new screens were higher resolution. That part is confirmed here, if anyone's curious: https://www.guildwars.com/en/

What are the odds that they look into improving the framerates in a few Prophecies areas? Now that they've been looking into the game in more depth, the two infamous ones most people know of are just inside and outside of Fisherman's Haven, as well as the snowing area of Iron Horse Mine. The framerate just drops to half, even with modern rigs.

Second, does anyone think they'll go back to the compiled list of ideas (Guild Wars To Do - Google Sheets) from the community and see if anything else can be implemented?

The one with the snow in Iron Horse Mine is i think might be as simple as there is no partical limit on number of snowflakes in the area.

I'm not sure what causes the issue outside Fishermans, but it also happens just north of sanctum cay as well a little.

Reforged, unlike the 20th anniversary content, which once announced, emphasized that there would still be surprises at the time of its release, will have nothing more than what has been announced so far. So I think that, apart from a few pixels, it will be quickly forgotten.

Now, whatever the outcome, I don't understand why, after releasing the GW version (Masterpiece 20th), they are releasing a Reforged version that is less complete (without EOTN and bonus missions). And above all, why accompany this Reforged announcement with marketing, when the content and changes in recent years have simply been updates, with at best an official message on Reddit (?)

Not only is this confusing, with people thinking it's a “remastered” version when it's not. And even more so when purchasing an account (what will be the point of the 20th anniversary masterpiece version once Reforged is released?).

So, apart from Deck Steam users and those with a 4K or higher resolution screen, is this false hope because there was marketing behind it? Strange choice on their part.

To me, keeping EOTN seperate is super odd. hopefully the Reforged + EOTN + GOTY will be sub 30$ on a regular day, and sub 20$ on holiday sales.

I will play my old acc, before spending money and supporting their new model. If they add QOL changes, ill get Reforged. Otherwise.. nty. ANET has been losing my trust in their product since Gw2:EoD release.

They said reforged will be 20$ so I'm assuming EotN will be 10$ or 15$ at most and the mission bonus pack at 5$ perhaps

Whatever the price, it's the offer that doesn't make sense.

Afaiu there is no GW1 anymore. All our accounts and our keys will be moved to reforged. It doesn't matter how you got the game you will be on reforged and all accounts will have the same game version.

Reforged 2: The Forging Forge will be for everyone. Its still GW!

they call it reforged but it's just the core game + main 2 expansions bundled up into one product on the steam market (+ the gw website) and that's it

as i said previously i believe anet got surprised at the amount of money we were willing to spend on the 20th anniv sale and they're back for round 2, call it something like reforged with a cool artwork and sync that for when Stephen (the goat) pushes his QoL and graphic/sound update and you got yourself a 20.5th anniversary sale

Let's imagine someone who only wants to buy Prophecies, for example to play Ironman or other theme. In short, exclusively with a campaign. Impossible in “Reforged” mode (?) forced to pay more for the trilogy (?) In some situations, it's not a saving..

Very well could have been, I guess my point is ever since the 20th its been a price Hike!

I think it's safe to say that Reforged is geared more towards newer players, or those that are regular GW2 players and want more for the HoM, even after all these years. The QoL additions are still welcomed by GW regulars though.

A full graphical remaster would require more detailed models (higher polygon count) and new textures with higher resolution. Both are unlikely as they would be a lot of effort (=money).
I'm still excited. Official Steam Deck compatibility may improve controlling options for running GW on phones/tablets with Winlator as well.

i had the game fully installed through steam before, now it is downloading 3.7GB regardless lol, the non-steam version update is only ~37MB + the exe/launcher

Might just be steam replacing the files regardless instead of adding to the existing. May be a steam protocol
